>>Thank you. That is good news, and puts the Velocette 12R in the category of products which I give prominent coverage in my site. As long as a good preamp and serious speaker and cabinet are included, there is a great interest in truly low-power tube amps, certainly below 10 watts, and even in the 50mW-1/2 watt range.
Official Velocette product page - excerpts:
The Velocette is a compact, no-nonsense, purists' valve combo. 375mm tall. 15 watts [or with 12R, can reduce to 7.5 watts] of Class A power into a single 10" speaker. The stripped down, rear mounted control panel features a single tone control (with a Bright switch), providing a midrange dominant sound in the full anti-clockwise position, while turning it clockwise decreases the mids and increases higher frequencies. The volume control ranges from clean to overdriven sounds, which respond particularly well to playing dynamics. An extension speaker socket enables the Velocette to drive larger speaker cabinets.Volume and tone controls plus bright switch
Input Impedance 1 Meg Ohms
Output Stage: Class A valve
Output Power: 15 watts RMS
External Speaker Rated Load Impedance: 16 Ohms
Speaker Configuration: 1 x 10" Celestion

User comments at Harmony Central - excerpts:
Volume, Tone, Bright switch. Class A Tube Amp. Hand-wired. Made in Britain. Celestion Vintage 12". Volume, Tone, Reverb. Switch for Triode/Pentode function. The tone control is effective but a little narrow in the affected frequencies. Bass level remains pretty constant, as does treble. I'd like to be able to cut treble without touching the bright switch. I'd prefer a Presence control, because the Bright switch is not subtle and adds volume when on. I'd like an ohm selector switch. 16 ohms is a strange choice, since you'll blow the amp up with a mismatch. I appreciate that I can take this amp on a plane as carry-on. Used with a strat with the bright switch on, the amp goes from crisp and clean to detailed overdrive. In overdrive and/or with a pedal, the amp becomes very midrangey, but in a strong way. There is quite a bit of volume on tap, but balancing pedal levels can be a task (due probably to the small transformer). For its size, the Velocette sounds big. The Celestion speaker sounds nicely vintage and adds to the distinct sonic character. Overall I like the sound very much. Basic practice amp with amazing sound. Wish it had Tremolo circuit. Loud enough for practice and small stuff. Super clean below 6 or 7. 8,9 and 10....really gritty. Emulates old tweed sound. Reverb OK but not as good as Fender. Play Blues, rock and old surf stuff. I use a Fender Strat and my daughter uses an Ibanez RX 40 strat copy. Works great for me and my daughter; we usually play on 4 with tone at 12 and reverb at 12 (12=halfway). I only wish some of the gritty distorted sound would come in at lower volumes. 15 watts blows me out of the house. [That's why we need several orders of magnitude reduction in power, to 50 mW or 1/2 watt tube power amps. - Michael]
